Building Community, Sharing Conversations, Gratitude
How quickly December rolls around. If we are lucky, we can slow down and enjoy looking back on a great and fun-filled 2018 in Longboat Key. The months go very fast, but the memories are there for a lifetime.
For me, I can celebrate, appreciate and reflect on a good Bay Isles Life this past year.
We celebrate another great year with family in LBK, one that was highlighted by our daughter’s wedding at the Longboat Key Club. The glasses in the picture are ones that we used to toast the happy couple.
We were very fortunate that mother nature looked after us delivering a perfect weekend to showcase the island. As I currently sit in the middle of a cold Midwest winter, I celebrate the weeks we have shared with family in Longboat Key this year. I long to be back soon to smile on the Isle in sunny weather.
We appreciate many things, one of which is the opportunity to continue our enjoyment of the beautiful scenery. Through hurricanes, mother nature can interrupt those opportunities. I am very thankful that Michael and Florence did not come visiting this year. Not to be rude, but I am not planning on inviting Irma back to the area any time soon. I would like to share a St. Mary Star of the Sea blessing I often think about this time of year;
“During the hurricane season, we turn to you, Father, to spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid. Our beloved mother, Star of the Sea, we ask you to plead on our behalf to spare us from the calamities common to this area. We ask this, while animated, with a true spirit of gratitude.”
Living with a faith of your choice is key to a feeling of serenity in Longboat Key!
Lastly, the Holiday season allows us to reflect on family and friends, with a focus of giving. I begin by giving thanks to all my friends in Longboat Key, for making this place the paradise I am fortunate to enjoy. The greatest hope for 2019 is that we get back to treating all people with the greatest of respect and honor that we wish upon ourselves. I give my very best wishes to all those, and their families, that are reading this today. Happy Coastal Holidays and here’s to a great 2019!
Cheers to our “Little Piece of Paradise – LBK”
