RBC Wealth Management

Business of the Month

RBC Wealth Management of Sarasota, a full-service investment firm, is lucky to have John Letourneau as its Branch Director and First Vice President.

John has been in the financial service industry since 1985 after studying business at Bentley University in Boston and earning his MBA from New Hampshire University. He’s worked for many well-known companies, including TIAA, John Hancock, Merrill Lynch, Paine Webber and Morgan Stanley. This vast wealth of knowledge and client experience made him well suited to open the RBC Sarasota office in 2015. But it may be his childhood that developed the qualities of success he readily demonstrates.

Born in the snowy and charming town of Waterville, Maine, John is one of seven children. His father was one of seventeen children! Anecdotes, as well as social research, illustrate that growing up with many siblings engenders well-honed problem solving and communication skills, as well as tenacity and resilience and, of course, strong family bonds. These attributes serve John well, especially in the ever-changing and complex financial services market. He understands the value of money, but more importantly, the value of family ties and preserving client wealth. John and his team focus on comprehensive financial planning and they are proud to develop deep and long-lasting relationships with those they serve. They work hard to earn and keep your trust.

Twenty years ago when John tired of shoveling snow, he moved to Sarasota. He and his wife, Tillie, have a blended family of six children that makes the most of outdoor activities. John is an accomplished and avid triathlete and has competed in many marathons, ultra marathons and triathlons throughout the country. He founded the Sarasota Storm Triathlon Club in 2005 and is actively involved with the YMCA and Junior Achievement.

John’s belief in community service dovetails well with RBC and its core value of corporate citizenship and making a true sustainable social impact. Their ten-year, $50 million Blue Water Initiative is just one example. In addition, RBC Sarasota offers free luncheon seminars several times a year on such relevant topics as fraud prevention and navigating Social Security/Medicare/Medicaid. These seminars provide older adults and their children with the information they need to prepare for the future. RBC Sarasota also hosts an annual empowerment forum for women that is incredibly well received by the many successful women in our area.

John is quite excited to become a grandfather for the first time in March of 2019. No doubt that with six kids, it will be the first of many. John is creating his own legacy right here in Sarasota and stands ready to help you with yours.
