Ryan Heers and EJ Benioni

Longboat Key Garden Club Home Tour

The Longboat Key Garden Club Home Tour includes the stylish home of Ryan Heers and T. Elijah "EJ" Benioni. Located in the Bayou section of Bay Isles, the circa 1989 home was completely renovated by this fascinating couple when they relocated from Rochester, New York, in 2010.

A livable, contemporary look is achieved the instant one enters the front door to reveal a stunning entry up a cantilevered staircase to the spacious living room featuring a mosaic fireplace wall. A modern kitchen opens to the deck and a ground level, landscaped pool area. The master and guest suites offer complete privacy.

Everywhere one looks there are details that reflect EJ's interests in musical theatre and medicine and Ryan's ability to personalize the decor and run an impeccable kitchen. The home features a large, private theatre and karaoke room and a wine cellar.

For this interview, I was treated to a homemade lunch and chilled Prosecco on a gloriously sunny day. Benny, their 15-year-old Bichon Frise breed dog, spritely followed us everywhere.

Time went quickly as I learned a little about Ryan, who is a Professional Real Estate Agent with a 20-year career that began in Rochester, his home town. He owned a Property Management and Rental Company in Upstate New York before he moved to Florida. Living in Bay Isles has inspired Ryan to specialize in real estate on Longboat Key and especially in the Bayou. He is associated with the Longboat Key office of Michael Saunders & Co.

EJ grew up in Hawaii and the Cook Islands where his father is a Senior Tribe Member. His love for music took him to the University of Miami because he could double major in Music and Pre-Med/Biology. EJ studied Medicine at The University of Rochester and completed much of his training there, specializing in Trauma Critical Care. Currently, he is a Partner in the largest physician-owned company that staffs hospitals, US Acute Care Solutions.

EJ and Ryan enjoy sunsets at the Bay Isles Beach Club with many of their Bayou friends who just happen to be originally from Rochester, NY also, a fun coincidence. They enjoy travel, fine food and wine, and bringing together their wide circle of friends to celebrate almost any occasion.

What a fun time! Thank you, Ryan, EJ and Benny.
